las vegas cox, I get 65MB down pretty much all the time when testing on speedtest.net. My connection is blazing fast across all devices aside of youtube. When I try to stream anything from youtube on any device connected to this network, I have to buffer 144p, and even then I'm waiting. I have purchased a new docsis 3.0 modem, thinking it was Cox's modem, then I bought a $185 Netgear premium router, but I realized I have this issue with the router bypassed. To rule out peak usage time excuses and whatnot and to rule out that it's NOT google's loadbalancing causing the issue as Cox might have you believe, I tested the same videos on my centurylink 25meg down service (I have two ISP's in the same house, one for personal, one for business). I can stream the same youtube vids in 1080p immediately with no waiting on my centurylink connection and then I'll repeat the test with the same video at the same time of day back to back on Cox and I'll be buffering at any resolution. It's ridiculous. I have over 60meg down service and I pay a buttload. Cox throttles youtube. Arsetechnica wrote an article about it. Read this article http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/07/why-youtube-buffers-the-secret-deals-that-make-and-break-online-video/ Anyway, I've already scheduled to have Centurylink come out and install a second service which will be replacing my cox service. Cox is getting cancelled next week. I primarily stream from youtube. I'm an idiot for wasting 20-40 or so hours trying to resolve this "issue". Sorry about the wall of text/no paragraphs.
