ToddKMy whole thought of using 8.8.8.8 was that it was a stable server on the WAN, especially when compared to the game servers. And I don't know where to find the VOIP servers. Guess I could use wireshark, but wanted to keep it simple for now.
Nothing wrong with using 8.8.8.8. I suggest using it all the time if your trying to rule out DNS issues because its a easy IP to remeber. However, because it's a DNS server, and not a web server, they might have some ICMP deprioritization, meaning they delay/reject response to Ping traffic so it doesn't slow the rest of the system down. Either way a trace would show this, so it doesn't matter where you trace/pathping too, as long as it shows the problem.
