" I just talked to Cox geek squad and they seem to have no clue about the ReadyShare."
That is NOT Cox geek squad. I will NOT stand for the Cox Tech Solutions (CTS) name to be tarnished so. CTS was once in house, filled with a bunch of very hard working people, but then before it could go national, they pulled the rug out from under it and outsourced the work to a company called Plumchoice. They are the Kmart of Technical Support in the industry.
Anyway, I too find it frustrating that Cox would modify the firmware from the official release without making release notes public. I understand the intention of making it user friendly, but you can have user friendly without being incompetent. Pretty sure Verizon and the ActionTec gateways have readyshare and port forwarding and other abilities. Why would Cox copy Verizon (pretty much the main reason they sell gateways) but then shoot themselves in the foot by disabling features? The only reason I can think of is they knew they support options were too limited to support the features of the device....so they just disabled them Pardon my rant, but you opened up a old wound.
