I obtained a "replacement" modem recently from the Cox Solution store on The old one failed when it gets really warm to touch and won't boot up. This new one gets very warm to touch also - it is a Cisco DPC 3010 cable Modem. . It also gets fairly warm after power up. Is this unusual for this brand of modem - the Cisco spec sheets on this model of modem has an operating temp rage of 32 - 104F.
I run the 192.168.100.1 to take a look at the status of modem, everything seems to be OK except the following:
All the 8 downstream channels except one on my Cisco DPC 3010 cable modem show :
Power Level: ~ -25 dBmV
Signal to Noise Ratio (S/N): ~ 25+ dB
However, channel 7 reads Power level of 0 dBmV and S/N of 0 dB.
Does that mean my cable modem is defective ????? I have the "Preferred " Internet Service.
Any advise will be appreciated
