Email was hacked - recipients known but not in address book

My email was hacked this past weekend. I understand how this can happen and have changed my password. I do have an I.T. degree but part of this is really throwing me off.  I mainly use my Android phone for emails and occasionally use Outlook on my laptop. I last was in Outlook on my laptop 7 days ago. Over the weekend I began getting undelivered messages.  Quite a few of the sent to email addresses are no where in address book and would not be addresses that would have been CC'd in any emails in recent history. One of them was actually an old Roadrunner account that was my personal email address over 6 years ago and have not used since.  My laptop with Outlook is a few years old, purchased well after I closed that account. That address was never associated with this computer. I did not transfer any data from my computer that did have that email address and it is not in any address books, nor are many other addresses that were undeliverable.  I contacted Tier 2 to attempt to get answers and hit a wall with 1 bad rep who seemed to not comprehend the situation and tried to blow it off as an Outlook issue. I am trying to understand how this is possible. I am trying to safeguard myself and those around me. I am vigilant with virus protection, visiting websites and I don't get spam email or open emails that I am not expecting. I would love input. At this time it feels like someone was able to access my entire history of emails over the past 6-7 years.  The messages read "I love this;) ogyrik http://jnlmeatmarket.com/interest.com_5.HTML (RAND_WORD(EN,5,8)}?walez jljlyky".  Any input would be highly appreciated!
