SOLUTION: Disable wireless on the CG3000D
CAUTION: Once the wireless is disabled, it is permanently disabled until a hard reset of the Gateway. A reset of the modem may or may not restore your wireless.
The page on the web interface that disabled the wireless signal is still in the firmware, but the menu item and link was removed in the Cox custom firmware for the CG3000D
The url is http://192.168.0.1/Rg802dot11BasicCfg.asp
Again, this will permanently disable the wireless signal so I would not recommend doing this on a rented gateway.
